Our own home-made Halloumi

My partner Mel and I ventured into new territory today and made our own Halloumi cheese. We like simple food made with great quality produce and avoid complicated processes. If you're anything like us the prospect of making your own cheese may seem daunting or maybe it excites the adventurous chef inside you.

Regardless, I’m writing to tell you that if we can do it, you can do it. As some of you may know we sell a variety of Mad Millie’s cheese making kits in our Teros shop, we’ve even held a class to teach you how to use them but today was our first solo attempt at conquering an essential household ingredient.  Whether you’ve attended a class, bought one and have no clue what to do with it, have seen it in shop but thought it wasn't for you or have no clue what we are talking about this post may have something for you.

So on a rainy winters morning in Hobart we achieved an outcome that we only believed possible by professionals and it was easy! I can say surely anyone can do this! All you need is a a few hours at home when you have things to do while the curds are setting, some pots , the Fresh Cheese Kit and an open mind.

When you buy the kit in comes with a detailed and intuitive instruction manual but we also went online to Mad Millies YouTube channel and watched their How To video to help us along ( See link for video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYfVnLOhJsc) .

So this is not a step by step but it does give you an insight into our morning adventure in the kitchen and hopefully encourages you to give new things ago in the kitchen so we’ve  included some photos to share with you.

If you want to know more about our personal experience in cheese making please feel free to come see us (Ahmet or Mel) in the shop or send us an email at ……… and we’ll get in touch with you to help you explore new ways of inspiring an achievable creative kitchen.
