The 8 interchangeable trays in the BioChef Kalahari Dehydrator can be removed to allow for more space when drying larger ingredients such as when rising bread or making yoghurt. The door traps the airflow, rather than the trays so you can have as many or as little trays as you like in the machine at any one time. The door is also completely transparent so you can monitor your ingredients during the drying cycle and dry them specifically to your liking without opening the door and interrupting airflow.
The BioChef Kalahari comes with 2 x fine mesh sheet for drying smaller items such as blueberries or seeds which would normally drop through the trays. It also comes with 2 x non-stick tray for drying wet or moist ingredients like fruit roll ups/leathers, flax crackers, bread alternatives and dehydrated cookies. A drip or spillage tray is also included and can be placed under the trays in case of spillage. This ensures quick and easy clean up when making beef jerky or drying sticky fruits.
